My father used to say, “Chuck doesn’t do anything in halves.” He was right: sometimes its a virtue and sometimes a curse. He and my mother taught me to cook, sometimes using cookbooks, like Julia Child's, but more frequently just winging it. This site is a roller coaster ride of recipes, articles, ingredients and anything else that involves cooking and presenting food. There is something here for everybody from beginners to experts.

Go Sugar Free with Allulose
So far I am loving Allulose. It is a natural sugar that is structurally similar to fructose. Not as sweet as table sugar but no weird taste.

This minor structural change is a game-changer. Fructose is a metabolic disaster that increases insulin resistance, promotes fatty liver, increases Uric Acid, and increase inflammation. Fructose is a major component of table Sugar (Sucrose), Honey, Corn Syrup, and Fruits. It releases Dopamine, promotes hunger and triggers the foraging response. Fructose has also been linked to the development of Dementia. There is no upside to consuming Fructose.
Interesting video on Youtube by Ben Bikman, PhD and another one
Allulose stimulates the hormone GLP-1. This hormone decreases gastric emptying, which decreases hunger and reduces the rise of glucose after a meal. It increases the removal of glucose from blood by muscle and increases metabolic activity of mitochondria. Finally, it decreases the release of glucose into the blood by Glucagon. It is the only no-calorie sweetener that does not affect the gut microbiome; The gut microbiome plays an important role in human health and influences the development of chronic diseases ranging from metabolic disease to gastrointestinal disorders and colorectal cancer(source).
Allulose that I am currently using. I compared it to Allulose + Monkfruit and didn't taste a difference
